Satantango - László Krasznahorkai, George Szirtes This is an incredibly challenging, yet rewarding work. I almost want to hold judgment on it, but I'll let that go and just say I was simply in awe of the writing at times. My only hesitation is the clearly intentional confusing narrative in which, although I understand the projection, still did not give some closure I was looking for. Such as...what was with the "resurrection scene"? Were the people at the end actually being saved? What exactly is our "savior" involved in?The strength of the book, besides its excellent writing (and thus translation), is found in the ability to raise these other questions. Not a book for the faint of heart in terms of content nor the faint of heart in terms of reading.
